      Less than a year after the strategic alliance with AirAsia Philippines, on September 21, the airline was rebranded as "AirAsia Zest". During its initial phases, ZestAir's website carried an image of an aircraft featuring AirAsia's signature red livery and the Zest title on the body and AirAsia's signature red livery on the tail.

      On March 11, 2013, AirAsia Philippines agreed to swap shares in the airline with domestic carrier Zest Airways. Zest received $16 million and a 13% share of AirAsia Philippines, while AirAsia Philippines got an 85% stake in Zest Airways with a 49% voting right. In 2015 the two airlines merged to form a new airline called Philippines AirAsia.
